Located on the fringes of the Central Ore Mountains in Saxony, the Olbernhau compressor station with its three gas turbines provides the necessary pressure for the STEGAL pipeline (Saxony-Thuringia Gas Pipeline). Olbernhau, which is located in the Flöha river valley, was the first compressor station of GASCADE, formerly WINGAS TRANSPORT. It was put into operation when STEGAL came on stream in October 1992.
