Hydrogen infrastructure –
the pillar of energy transition

“Hydrogen infrastructure – the pillar of energy transition” – this paper by Siemens Energy, GASCADE and Nowega looks at converting gas transmission systems to hydrogen transport in practice, and therefore provides important information on setting up a hydrogen infrastructure in Germany as planned by policy makers.

Converting part of the existing pipeline network for natural gas to transport hydrogen is part of the German government’s National Hydrogen Strategy. For the whitepaper, the three involved companies looked at detailed questions that underscore the feasibility of this planning. Energy flow and pipeline capacity are considered as well as storage options and practical cases for the hydrogen economy in operation. The model project GET H2 Nukleus, in which Nowega is involved, is also considered as a case.
