Receiving and distributing

The Greifswald/Lubmin site is an important hub in the German natural gas network. The major gas pipelines EUGAL (European Gas Link), NEL (North European Gas Link), and OPAL (Baltic Sea Pipeline Link) are interconnected and distribute the gas from the Baltic Sea region and from the west further in the German network.

The infrastructure includes measuring facilities that can check gas quantity, gas composition as well as gas quality. The facilities, which are a joint project of several German regulated network operators, can transport gas in all directions and thus – depending on demand – distribute it flexibly in the market. GASCADE assumes responsibility as technical operator.
