Temporary use of a hot torch as part of a safe technical process.
Kassel/Reckrod. GASCADE Gastransport GmbH is constructing the new Reckrod 2 compressor station in Eiterfeld. Construction work is well advanced, and the plant will gradually begin commissioning on Monday, 29 September 2025.
Individual station areas will be gradually filled with natural gas. A so-called hot flare will be used regularly during this work. This is a controlled open flame that will be visible on the site. The flare is used for the safe discharge and combustion of natural gas during the gas filling process. Commissioning is scheduled to be completed in October 2025. The commissioning of the first compressor unit is then planned.
All work is carried out in accordance with the highest safety standards. The visible flame is no cause for concern, but rather part of a proven technical process.
Once fully operational in 2026, the compressor station will increase security of supply in the natural gas market and enable larger quantities of natural gas to be transported to Baden-Württemberg. In addition, the modernization of this central network hub creates important prerequisites for the future transport of hydrogen in the German transmission network.
