The hydrogen core network links production sites, import routes and consumption centres, thus laying the foundation for the market ramp-up of hydrogen in Germany. GASCADE plays a significant role in the realisation of the hydrogen core network. A grid connection to our pipeline network gives producers and consumers access to the national hydrogen infrastructure.
Capacity Reservations for Hydrogen Transport in the Core Network
On March 5, 2026, the hydrogen core network operators published a second market information package with the basics for the possibility of capacity reservations in the hydrogen core network from March 19, 2026, in order to inform the market about hydrogen pipelines, cluster cuts, supply zones, capacity availability, and the reservation process.
Model contract for capacity reservations in the hydrogen core network agreed
As part of the development of the hydrogen cooperation agreement, standard model contracts for capacity reservations in the hydrogen core network were agreed. These were also published on March 5, 2026, by the participating associations BDEW, VKU, and GEODE.
GASCADE reservation fee for hydrogen capacity reservations
The reservation fee for the GASCADE part of the hydrogen core network amounts to 4% of the tariff of the hydrogen core network. At the moment this calculates to a specific reservation fee of 1.00 EUR/kWh/h/a.

Grid connection to the hydrogen core network
Are you a hydrogen producer or would you like to obtain hydrogen for your company or project)?
For a planned connection to the hydrogen core network, a network connection request must be submitted. Send us a short description of your entry or exit project with the relevant parameters of the desired grid connection using these term sheets by email to H2-NetzanschlussSpam Protect@gascade.de. The possibility of implementation will be checked by GASCADE and the result will be communicated to you. If you agree, we will work with you to draw up the necessary contracts (installation contract and grid connection/grid coupling contract, etc.).
