Participants can submit inquiries regarding new cross-market-area capacities for the GASPOOL market area
Kassel. With a Europe-wide market survey, the transmission system operators GASCADE Gastransport GmbH, Gasunie Deutschland Transport Services GmbH and ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH are hoping to determine the need for new transport capacities for H gas at the boundaries of the GASPOOL market area. The survey will take place from Friday noon, 21.08.2015, via the new Internet platform www.more-capacity.eu.
"The aim is to take into account the needs of the market as early as possible and to develop the relevant gas pipeline infrastructure accordingly for the benefit of the European domestic market," said GASCADE Managing Director Christoph von dem Bussche. "Together, we have decided to take this innovative step in order to quickly get a picture as to what new capacities beyond the existing mechanisms are required by the market," said Jens Schumann, Managing Director of Gasunie. "Consulting the market and coming up with suitable measures will also help to ensure transparency and prevent discrimination," emphasized ONTRAS Managing Director Ralph Bahke.
The three companies are assuming that the market would like to see new cross-market-area capacities provided earlier on than the current regulations allow. "We have already received verbal and written inquiries from market players regarding transport capacity for the GASPOOL market area," explained von dem Bussche.

When the survey starts on 21.08.2015, market players will have eight weeks in which to submit a non-binding request for additional cross-market-area capacities. On the basis of the inquiries received, the three TSOs will produce a demand analysis which will be published before the end of this year. The demand analysis will provide an overview of market players' perceived needs for additional capacity.
Once this first analysis is complete, a decision as to whether technical studies for new projects are to be carried out will be made. How the pilot process will proceed in the future will be decided in close consultation with the regulatory authorities.
