Extension of GASCADE compressor station in Rehden

Work expected to begin at the end of May – HGV traffic to be routed across storage facility site

Rehden / Kassel. The first preparatory work for extending the GASCADE compressor station in Rehden, Lower Saxony is due to begin at the end of May. The company expects to receive approval from the Clausthal-Zellerfeld State Mining Office before the end of this month.

HGV and construction site traffic will be routed via the Astora storage facility site. In light of this, signs will be put up on the Federal Highways 214 and 239 shortly. This was agreed in consultation with the District of Rehden in order to ease the burden on neighboring residential areas such as Lohhaus.

To reduce overall construction site traffic during the earthwork, calcium hydroxide (lime) will be incorporated into the clay soil on site. This process reinforces the ground, as a result of which there is no need to change the soil. An automatic HGV tire washing machine will also be installed at the entrance to the construction site. This will help to reduce the amount of dirt on roads in the surrounding area.

The extension of the station is the implementation of the network coupling measure set out in the latest Gas Network Development Plan. All construction and installation work should be completed by the beginning of 2018.
