Employees of the Kassel-based transmission system operator donate 5,000 Euros / Funds enable the financing of necessary projects
Kassel. The transmission system operator GASCADE Gastransport GmbH has been supporting the association Soziale Hilfe e.V. for many years, which runs the day shelter Panama for the homeless and needy on Kölnische Straße. At the initiative of GASCADE's works council, employees have donated to Panama. The management generously increased the total amount to 5,000 Euros. The donation will be handed over to the association Soziale Hilfe e.V., which intends to use the money for the renovation of sanitary facilities and the construction of a ramp for barrier-free access.
A Living Room for People Without a Home
"Since 1989, the day shelter Panama has offered a place where people are accepted as they are. This acceptance makes Panama a living room for people without a home, a place where they are welcome," says Michaela Rohde, deputy managing director of the association Soziale Hilfe. "Here, the needy receive low-threshold help in various ways. This includes counseling, meals, the opportunity to shower, use of the clothing room, and much more," she adds.
Support from the Neighborhood
GASCADE, whose corporate headquarters are also located on Kölnische Straße in Kassel, has been a reliable partner of Panama for many years. Given the growing importance of facilities like Panama, support from local companies like GASCADE is crucial to continue implementing urgently needed projects and aid services. "It was important for us to do something good together and support a facility that provides valuable help in our immediate neighborhood," emphasizes Sabine Werner from the works council. "As a company, we also bear social responsibility. With our donation, we want to show that the well-being of our fellow human beings is close to our hearts," adds Klaus Schneegans, chairman of the works council. "We are particularly pleased that we were able to raise such a large sum for Panama this time – many thanks to everyone for this great support!" The association intends to use the financial aid to renew the sanitary facilities and build a ramp at the entrance. These measures are necessary to improve accessibility for all visitors and must be largely financed from their own funds. Implementation is planned for the current year 2025.
