In accordance with section 1 of the Federal Network Agency's ruling on the hydrogen balancing and accounting model (WasABi) dated 27 October 2025, the hydrogen transport network operators appointed Trading Hub Europe GmbH (THE) as the hydrogen market area manager on 8 December 2025, within the specified time limit. THE accepted the appointment on 12 December 2025.
This marks another important step toward a unified German hydrogen market area, in which THE will leverage its many years of experience as a market area manager in the gas sector to profitably perform its new tasks in the hydrogen sector.
Following the appointment, THE will work with all relevant market players to ensure efficient implementation with the aim of creating all the system and organizational conditions necessary for taking on the new tasks by 1 January 2028.
