Grossauheim / Grosskrotzenburg. From Monday, 28 August 2017, the path along the railroad between Grossauheim and Grosskrotzenburg will be closed. A construction site is being set up there due to maintenance work on the MIDAL gas pipeline.
The path is expected to remain closed until the start of November. During the construction work, the footpath and cycle path in this section will be closed for all road users. A diversion will be signposted by the municipal public order office.
MIDAL (Mitte-Deutschland-Anbindungsleitung or in English Central German Gas Link) belongs to the GASCADE Gastransport GmbH pipeline network. The gas pipeline runs from Bunde and Rysum in north Germany via Rehden and Reckrod to Ludwigshafen. At Hanau it measures 80 centimeters in diameter. The MIDAL connects landing points for natural gas from sources in northwest Europe with the German centers of consumption.
