New pipeline project: GASCADE informs the public

Kassel/Lemförde/Rehden. The Kassel-based gas pipeline network operator GASCADE is to provide details of its new pipeline project by staging two information events. The just over 26-kilometer North-West Pipeline Link (NOWAL) is to run between Rehden in Lower Saxony and Drohne in North Rhine-Westphalia and will be built in 2017.

NOWAL is part of the current German Gas Network Development Plan. It is to connect GASCADE's gas pipelines in central Germany with the pipeline network in the west of the country. "That will make it possible to transport more natural gas to Southern and Western Germany and therefore increase supply security," is the reason GASCADE's Managing Director Christoph von dem Bussche gives for the project.

GASCADE already operates a compressor station in Rehden. With an eye to the planned construction work in 2017, von dem Bussche said: "It's important for us to get the public and local citizens on board at an early stage and answer potential questions quickly." GASCADE's route engineers will therefore explain the project to all those interested in it in Lemförde on 12 May and in Rehden on 13 May.

The events:

12 May, 2014, 7 p.m. – Rittersaal, Hauptstraße 80, Lemförde

13 May, 2014, 7 p.m. – Town Hall, Schulstraße 18, Rehden
