GASCADE begins expansion of Mallnow transfer station on the German-Polish border

Kassel / Mallnow. GASCADE is starting with the expansion of the transfer station on the German-Polish border in Mallnow near Frankfurt (Oder) together with the Polish transmission system operator GAZ-SYSTEM. The German and the Polish transmission system operators are thus implementing Regulation no. 994 / 2010 of the European Parliament and the Council concerning measures to safeguard security of gas supply.

The transfer-compressor station Mallnow, which has been operating since 1996, receives Russian natural gas from the Polish section of the YAMAL pipeline and sends it on through the JAGAL (German connecting pipeline) operated by GASCADE towards the west of Germany. By expanding the station, it will be possible to transport natural gas in reverse flow direction, from Germany to Poland, and to do so with quantities of up to 620,000 m³/h. “By expanding the station in Mallnow, GASCADE is making a key contribution to increasing Polish supply security,” GASCADE managing director Dr. Christoph von dem Bussche said. “Furthermore, the expansion creates infrastructure that further boosts cross-border natural gas trading in Europe.”
