We match up the interests.
Of society and the economy.

Natural gas is an important source of energy, and a large proportion of Western Europe's demand is transported through our pipeline network. We are proud of this achievement. We are aware of the responsibility this entails for secure supplies to Germany and its neighbors and do our best to meet this responsibility each and every day.

As partners to politics and society, we state our positions constructively as part of the political debate and help realize initiatives such as Germany's energy transformation and meet the demands of citizens for energy supplies that are both affordable and environmentally compatible. To this end, we transport natural gas, biogas, and in future – as soon as this technology is ready to go to market – also synthetic methane, which can be produced chemically or biologically from water and CO2 from the air, using surplus eco power.

We collaborate closely with other network operators. In Germany for example via the Association of Transmission System Operators (FNB Gas – Vereinigung der Fernleitungsnetzbetreiber Gas e. V.). In Europe we continously develop the domestic market for natural gas via the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG). For example, as a shareholder of the PRISMA European Capacity Platform, an internet platform for marketing transport capacity, the launch of which in April 2013 involved the participation of 19 transmission system operators from seven countries. As a strong partner of the GASPOOL market area, we help ensure a liquid market at the heart of Europe.

At the same time, we are also dedicated to reducing our own environmental impact, for example by using what is currently the most efficient compressor technology in our pipeline system. In this way we can save 10% of CO2 emissions in the current decade.
